When I was in 11th grade, I took a class that was about the practical aspects of a floor plan of a house, the directions the rooms should be laid out to the sun, and how to furnish each one of them. Ever since I looked at houses in a different way.
Some years later, I took a class in architectural drawings, which gave me a better understanding of the structure of a house. And when my husband and I got the opportunity to build our first home, we were very hands-on and did things like installing a drainage around the home, installing drywalls, laying floors and tiles. We even built an in- ground pool in our backyard.
After we moved to the United States in 2011, I went back to school for a degree in Business Management. During that time, we also built our second home and learned a lot about the different ways houses are built here compared to Germany.
I am a hands - on person who does not just want to sit in an office, so I was looking for a job that would fit my personality best. After searching for a while, I found that being a home inspector is the perfect profession for me. I took all the online- classes the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI) offers, and then took the state exam for my license in Alabama. I also got some training on the job with a home inspector in the Birmingham area and started my own company in November 2018.
Three years later, I have done numerous home inspections for buyers who especially appreciated the quality of my work in doing thorough inspections and deliver a great report on the same day.
